Postal love – one expected & one surprise

Retracing your steps.

Lost my leash yesterday in my rye fascination, and retraced my tracks in the snow today. Found it.

I think this is wild beach rye

Didn’t know we had wild beach rye until I recently read that these plants grew a lot of fungus this summer. Ergot fungus, the kind that they suspect fueled the hallucinations during the Salem witch trials. So, um, don’t eat it, and stuff. http://juneauempire.com/outdoors/2012-12-21/trails-ergot#.UOpusqw8oR8

Toothpaste and cookies… really cookies?

I got this toothpaste today to clean my dog’s teeth and on the way out I grabbed a treat from the bucket. It smells just like cookie, it looks  just like cookie and now I know why they are marketing proper dental canine hygiene to me – because it was too much to feed them human s-crap-s, now people are buying cookies and candy specifically for their dogs!?

Can I buy you a drink

I started mapping out the words I would use to reply to the always awkward gesture… thanks, but really, we’re both in relationships & have been for years, so really…. Until she gestures to your very sweet and ever generous friend across the bar that sent them over. Phew! Happy surprise. I love Juneau!

The good and the bad

I scolded her for getting in the “pantry” stuff under the sink, then promptly realized she was still looking in there. Innocent explanation, her ball bounced in. I started glancing around – open closet full of stinky shoes, open bag of food, leashes, cleaning supplies, trash can, plants – So many temptations that I never think twice about. Feeling very appreciative of my fabulous pup realizing what great boundaries she has with human stuff.

Lost and found

Someone lost this on the trail and it’s been hanging on this tree for a few days without claim, until…
