We decided to visit the cathedral in the evening, not realizing it would be during mass. It was pretty impressive to see the pomp and circumstance with what seemed like dozens of choir children, plenty of clergy, and even two cardinals (I just looked it up, there are only 204 living cardinals today).
I was stunned to find out the Palace of Versailles has an opera house and a massive chapel INSIDE the palace. Crazy opulence!
Summer Solstice (Fete de la Musique) – you could find musicians on every street corner for the solstice celebration – with banjo and guitars, these guys were my clear favorites
Evan did some planning and figured out how to make our phones work in France. Now we can be out and about without worrying about losing one another.
We took an evening stroll around the city and made our way to the belly of the Eiffel Tower. It’s massive and beautiful.
Our first grocery store run led us to the wine isle where it’s hard to find a bottle of wine for more than $7 US.
After 18ish hours of door to door traveling, we made it to our rented apartment in Paris. I can’t believe I can make it to Paris in less time than it took me to travel to Juneau.
Dillon’s 3rd birthday cake. Thankfully Kristine scheduled the party a week early so I could attend and make the cake.
Evan and I ran to the lake for a day to visit Mom before we left for our trip. The night was old, the room was dark, and the picture is bad but I love seeing Mom and Rick play. Who knows who started it, but they ended up rolling around on the floor tickling one another. Too cute!
