We decided to visit the cathedral in the evening, not realizing it would be during mass. It was pretty impressive to see the pomp and circumstance with what seemed like dozens of choir children, plenty of clergy, and even two cardinals (I just looked it up, there are only 204 living cardinals today).
I was stunned to find out the Palace of Versailles has an opera house and a massive chapel INSIDE the palace. Crazy opulence!
It was hard to be a work on my favorite day of the year, and I Smiled BIG this afternoon when I read an email from Adell that started, “Enjoy the solstice! Paris takes this shit seriously…”

Summer Solstice (Fete de la Musique) – you could find musicians on every street corner for the solstice celebration – with banjo and guitars, these guys were my clear favorites
Evan did some planning and figured out how to make our phones work in France. Now we can be out and about without worrying about losing one another.
We took an evening stroll around the city and made our way to the belly of the Eiffel Tower. It’s massive and beautiful.
